FAQs for the Environmental Degradation Conference

General Information

Q: Why did AMPP (f.k.a. NACE International and SSPC) decide to postpone the 20th International Conference on Environmental Degradation of Materials in Nuclear Power Systems – Water Reactors?

A: Due to circumstances beyond AMPP's and the conference committee's control, arising from state and local restrictions for large gatherings where the conference was scheduled to be held, we felt it was best to postpone the conference to 2022. The Conference will now take place July 17-21, 2022.

Q: I submitted an abstract for the 2021 event.  Do I have to resubmit for 2022?

A: Abstracts that were previously submitted will remain with the conference for the 2022 event.  If any author wishes to withdraw their abstract they can submit a request to the Technical Program Chair, Stuart Medway, at envdeg2021techchair@gmail.com.

Q: Can I still submit a new abstract?

A: The submission links for abstracts will reopen by March 5th.  Everyone is welcome to submit an abstract once the links reopen and will have until October 31, 2021.

Q: What are the new deadlines for submitting papers and presentations?

A: New deadlines for authors are as follows:

  • Abstract Submissions: October 31, 2021
  • Draft Papers: March 4, 2022
  • Final Papers: June 13, 2022
  • Presentations: June 27, 2022

Q: Can I get a refund for my hotel reservation if I did not reserve in the official room block?

A: If you elected to book outside of the official room block, you will have to work directly with the third-party used for booking(i.e., Expedia, Priceline, Hotwire, etc.) or the hotel directly to determine if the reservation can be modified or if cancellation fees may apply.

Q: Will AMPP be reimbursing flight cancellation/rebooking fees?

A: AMPP is not liable for costs related to travel to Aspen, CO. Please contact your specific airline carrier to inquire about their change/cancellation policy.

Q: My company committed to supporting but we haven’t sent in our contract yet.  Who can I talk to about my options to continue?

A: Please contact Rosalind Hoang (Rosalind.Hoang@nace.org) for more details about your options.
